Methodology

  • A fixed panel of 50 popular models x 4 first-registration/mileage bands, searched on each AutoScout24 country site (DE, AT, BE, ES, FR, IT, LU, NL) once a week without logging in.
  • Per band and country we take the newest 100 listings that match the band and compute the median asking price; a cell needs 10 priced listings.
  • Gap = (country median - German median) / German median. A country's figure is the median of its band gaps.
  • Asking prices in EUR as listed, private and dealer listings together; no listing, dealer or seller is published.

Coverage and caveats

  • 1134 band x country cells with enough listings; Luxembourg has few listings per band and is left out of the country table (fewer than 20 bands).
  • Asking prices, not transaction prices. Equipment, fuel and condition differ within a band; the band is the like-for-like proxy.
  • Cross-border buying adds transport, registration and tax costs that the gap does not include.
